During the initial ndau wallet app setup, you were required to write down your recovery phrase and to save it in a secure place. You will always be able to recover your ndau wallet and all the accounts in it as long as you have saved your recovery phrase. Please see this FAQ on recovering your wallet for an overview of your recovery options.
This article will walk you through the process of using your recovery phrase to recover your ndau in a new installation of the nda wallet app.
First, install the latest version ndau wallet app from either Google Play or the Apple Store.
Next, run the ndau wallet app. You’ll see the following Welcome screen. Click on the “Get Started” button.
The next screen gives you the option of creating a brand new wallet (with a brand new recovery phrase) or recovering an existing wallet. Click on the “Recover a wallet” button.
Next, you’ll need to type in your recovery phrase words one at a time.
Remember, your recovery phrase is a phrase which means the words have a order to them from 1 to 12 (like the numbers in a combination lock code).
Enter each word of your recovery phrase one at a time in the correct order in the box at the bottom of the screen.
As you enter each word, the wallet app will show you suggestions on what the word could be. Each word in your recovery phrase is one of 2,048 possible words.
As soon as you see a match with your word, just tap on the suggested word button to enter it. In this example, the first word of my recovery phrase is “unfair,” so I tap on the “unfair” suggested word button to enter it.
Continue and enter each of your 12 words in your recovery phrase.
Once you’re done, you’ll see a summary screen that shows you your entire recovery phrase in order (left to right, top to bottom).
In this example I’ve blurred out every word except for #1 and #2 for security purposes.
Click the “Confirm” button.
On the next screen, enter a name for your wallet. This name can be anything you wish.
Now, create a password for you wallet.
This password is simply a way to lock the ndau wallet app on your phone to prevent anyone else who has access to your phone from opening your ndau wallet app.
Click the “Next” button.
On the next screen, read and scroll down through the Terms of Service. Check the “I agree to the terms of use” checkbox and then click the “Next” button.
The ndau wallet app will now use your recovery phrase to go onto the Internet and check the ndau blockchain to recover all your ndau account addresses. This should take about a minute. When it’s done, you’ll see all your accounts safe and sound.
Congratulations, you’ve successfully recovered your wallet!
